The Tennessee Bar Association has announced that Diana Comes, a student at The University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, has been picked as the organization's 2009 Volunteer of the Year.
Comes, who also won the Sandra Day O'Connor national scholarship last semester, was given the award for her work with an organization that provides legal counsel to the underprivileged.
Volunteering 280 hours in the span of two months made Comes the favorite to win the award.
In addition to recently receiving the Sandra Day O'Connor award, Comes' accolades include the Cecil C. Humphreys Fellowship, the Law Alumni Honors Board Scholarship and the Dean's Distinguished Service Award.
