The Tigers pitching staff continues to add more players for 2008, as baseball head coach Daron Schoenrock announced the signing of DeSoto Central pitcher Ben Paullus Wednesday afternoon. This comes as an effort to rebuild the bullpen after losing four pitchers to the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft earlier this summer.
Paullus, a 6-2 right-hander, comes to the Tigers after finishing last season at DCHS with a perfect 11-0 record and 94 strikeouts in just 68.2 innings of work. He finished the year with a 1.56 ERA, good enough to earn him First Team All-Chickasaw Conference, Clarion Ledger First Team All-State and All-Shelby Metro honors.
Joining Paullus on the mound is Little Rock Central's Brandon Showmar, who signed a National Letter of Intent with the Tigers last month.
As a senior, the 6-3 right-hander sported a 1.28 ERA in 13 appearances, while striking out 53 batters in 50 innings of work.
