University of Memphis sophomore TK Hancock was found shot to death in his car shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday night after neighbors reported hearing a gunshot in the area just outside the Hollywood Library in North Memphis, which closed nearly three hours earlier.

University of Memphis student Richard Paige was charged with attempted second-degree murder Wednesday after an altercation at a keg party ended with gunshots. According to the police report, Paige was hosting a keg party at his house on Autumn Street when he asked the victim, Michael Schaefgen, to leave.

In response to The Daily Helmsman's story about University of Memphis student Ross Burton's arrest for assault and arson, the suspect's sister trashed the newspapers across campus. Jennifer Burton, art graduate assistant, emptied some of the newsstands holding papers with her brother's photo on the front page into garbage cans at several locations at The University of Memphis yesterday.

More than 500 students and staff members donated recycled goods yesterday when The University of Memphis launched a new recycling program led by the Recycling and Sustainable Committee and Physical Plant. "People seem really excited," said Amelia Mayahi, recycling and sustainability coordinator.
