Police have still not named any suspects in the on-campus murder of Taylor Bradford, and now a $7,000 award is being offered for any information leading to an arrest and prosecution. In a meeting Wednesday, Memphis City Council added Bradford's case to a list of investigations eligible for a $5,000 award.

A University of Memphis football player was fatally shot in his car at Carpenter Complex about 10 Sunday night. Taylor Bradford, a junior defensive lineman from Nashville, was pronounced dead at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis. After he was shot, he drove his light-colored Lincoln across central and hit a tree near Zach Curlin, police said.

Although University President Shirley Raines said that the shooting Sunday night was a targeted crime, the Memphis Police Department is unable to verify that it was not a random act. In a Monday morning press conference, Raines said that the attack was "an act directed specifically at the victim," and "was not a random act of violence.

The results are in, and The University of Memphis student enrollment for Fall 2007 is down. Sliding from 20,562 in fall of 2006 to 20,379 this year, enrollment figures have taken a small dip the past two fall sessions. But, Shirley Raines, president of The University of Memphis, said in a press release that she was pleased with the amount of entering honor students.
