A recently expelled student said Wednesday he is innocent of claims that he purposely struck the car of an administrator two days after he reportedly made threats in her office. Scott Toomsen, a 38-year-old undecided freshman of Carbondale, was expelled June 24 for charges that included threatening Director of Disability Services Kathleen Plesko and staff two days before he hit Plesko's car at a red light.

After much anticipation, the Danforth University Center-a $34 million undertaking-will open as scheduled on August 11. The tenants of this three-story 116,000 square foot gothic styled building will begin moving in on July 14, with the move being completed on July 21 and 28.

Family, friends and fellow Marines will gather today to remember an SIUC student who was killed after his motorcycle collided with a van Friday morning. Bradley Owings, 24, was traveling west on Illinois Route 13 at a high speed when he ran a red light and crashed into a van turning left onto Reed Station Road, according to reports from the Carbondale Police Department and the Jackson County Coroner.

TULLAHOMA, Tenn. (AP) _ Police say three Middle Tennessee teenagers died when their sport utility vehicle became stuck in mud which plugged the exhaust system.
Eighteen-year-old Josh Baker of Winchester, 17-year-old Kristie Burton of Lynchburg and 15-year-old Alyssa Rucker of Tullahoma were found dead in the vehicle Saturday night.

SIUE graduate student and Troy resident Patrick Marvin chose to leave for work 10 minutes early on a Friday afternoon. This decision ended up saving the lives of two elderly women and an elderly man.
On June 6, Marvin decided to leave for work early due to the heavy rains and tornado warnings the area received all day long.
